Play NES games in your browser, and change how they play.

Genie Jam is an NES player built around GG codes: switch on known codes, type in your own, or press one button for a random code and see what happens.

No games of your own? Free homebrew games come with it, ready to play. Or open an NES ROM you own (.nes or .zip): it stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Known codes, one press away

A library of more than 10,000 known codes for about 600 games: infinite lives, higher jumps, starting on a later level. Genie Jam checks them against your copy of the game where it can, and leaves out the ones that do not fit it.

Add the ones you want and switch them on and off while you play. ORIGINAL and PATCHED flip between the game as it was and the game with your codes.

Roll a random code

Press RT and Genie Jam makes up a code on the spot, right where you are in the game. Press RT again for another, LT to see it again.

Some do nothing you can see, some do something strange, and some break the game: UNDO takes those back. KEEP the ones you like.

Your codes, with the 16-letter grid for typing a code

Type your own

Found a code in an old magazine or on a website? Type it on the 16-letter grid, 6 or 8 letters, give it a name, and it stays in your code book for that game.

Export your codes to a file to keep or share, and import them again.

Made for a controller

Everything works from a controller: LB opens the menu, RB your codes, the d-pad and A do the rest. Keyboard and mouse work too.

Saves

Four save slots for every game, plus the game's own battery saves. Export them to a file to keep or move.

Nothing to install

It runs in your browser. Open the page, open a game, play.

Stays with you

Your games, codes and saves stay in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Share your code

Found a code of your own that does something cool? Share it, and see what other players found: shared codes are listed by game, A to Z.
